About Smokeless Heat Logs

We’re thrilled to share that The Bearded Bleepers were recently featured in the Nutfield Link, the much-loved local magazine for the village of Nutfield in Surrey — and not just a mention, either. We made the front cover and had a full centre spread all about us and our adventures in metal detecting!

A big thank you to Phil Hall and the Nutfield Link team for the brilliant write-up and for shining a spotlight on the fascinating world of metal detecting. It’s a huge honour to be recognised in our local community, and we’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share a bit about what we do and why we love it so much.

The article covers our journey as a small team of passionate detectorists exploring the fields, bridleways, and historic landscapes of Surrey. From Roman relics to Georgian silver, WW2 badges to medieval tokens, there’s no telling what we might dig up next — and that’s what makes this hobby so exciting. Every outing is an opportunity to connect with the past, uncover forgotten stories, and quite literally bring history back to the surface.

To see metal detecting celebrated in a local publication is not only exciting for us, but a great way to help educate people about the hobby and its value. It’s not just about finding old coins and artefacts — it’s about responsible exploration, historical research, preservation, and sharing our discoveries with the wider community. Many of our finds have been logged with the Portable Antiquities Scheme, helping build a richer picture of Surrey’s past.

We also want to make it known that we love collaborating. If you’re a journalist, editor, podcaster, or blogger looking for a great story, we’d be delighted to chat. From the technical side of metal detecting to the wild stories behind the finds, or even the day-to-day camaraderie between us five bearded blokes out in the fields — we’ve got plenty to say (and believe us, we can talk for hours about this hobby!).

The exposure from the Nutfield Link has already sparked interest, and we’re hopeful that this leads to more opportunities to share what we do. Whether it’s in the local press, national media, or even through community talks, we’re always happy to discuss how metal detecting connects us to our landscape, our history, and each other.

If you’d like to feature The Bearded Bleepers in your publication, or just fancy a chat about rusty things and buried treasure, feel free to get in touch with Murray Price directly: [email protected].

Until next time — happy hunting, and thanks again to the Nutfield Link for giving us a bit of the spotlight!
